Today in Sunday school we were talking about Joseph Smith and the fact that he came from a family with strong religious beliefs. He had been taught to read from the bible as a boy and was very prepared to be called as the Prophet of the church. When he told his family about his vision of the Prophet Moroni and the gold plates, all of them believed him. There was no doubt by his family, as to what he had seen and what he was chosen to do. Our Sunday School teacher then said something to the effect of how we need to make our homes the kind of environment that the next possible prophet could be raised in. She then said that we don't know if we would raise the next prophet, but we also don't know who is coming in our line and they need to be prepared. I have no idea what my little Madison will become, or who she will be 20 years from now. What I do know is that I want to give her all the love and support she needs to become whomever she will be! Maybe she will raise the next prophet!

*Club Mom
For more years then I can count on both hands I have wanted to be married and be a mom! 3 1/2 months ago I joined this mom club and it has changed my life completely!! It is the most amazing, challenging, rewarding, frustrating, overwhelming and incredible thing I have ever done, and like I said...I am only 3 1/2 months into this gig!
I keep waiting for things to get back to normal. I want to be able to clean my house, put all the crap that's on my kitchen counter and table away. Clean the bathrooms and have a shower all in the same day! I get so discouraged, so overwhelmed and I don't know where to start. I feel so unorganized and feel like things will never get back to normal. The other day I walked into my kitchen three times to start to tackle the counter and walked right back out! It takes so long to get anything done, and as soon as I get one thing done and want to move onto the next... my little beauty is crying--waking from her nap! I love holding Madison...it is my favorite. I love that I know what makes her smile. I know how to calm her, and make her laugh! I wouldn't trade this job for all the money in the world. I just didn't know how overwhelming it would be.
The other day while at the Pediatrician's office I mentioned to her that I thought I felt like I had some depression. I told her how overwhelmed and discouraged I feel! She told me that depression could be possible and to talk to my OB/GYN. She then asked me if I was the type of person that was used to getting a lot done in a day. I told her I was. She told me that maybe I just needed to cut myself a bunch of slack. She told me that mothering a child is a HUGE job and even the most organized of women get kicked to their butts once becoming a mother.
How grateful I am for all of my dear friends that I have talked to in the last couple of days who have commiserated with me. It is comforting to know that I am not the only woman in the world who feels this way! Not that it makes things better, it's just very comforting to know that I am not the only one! Thanks gals....what would we do without each other?

*Being sick
Being sick sucks!!! It sucks even worse when it's your baby who can't tell you where she hurts! Yesterday Madison was really lethargic yesterday. She would go right back to sleep shortly after waking and feeding. The she started to have a bit of a stuffy nose. When we got home last night she was coughing really bad. This morning when we got up she was really "chesty" sounding, and sounding worse then she did last night. Brice said he thought I should call the Dr. Luckily our pediatrician's office has a doctor in on Saturday. I called and they said we could be seen at 9:30. I hurried and got ready and out the door we went.
When we got to the Dr office I asked the receptionist who was the Dr. that was in. Lucky for us Dr. Cox (our Dr.) was in!! First we weight Madi, she is 14 lbs and 14 oz. The girl is growing!!! She has such cute thighs!! The nurse then did a pulse ox. test and took her temp. She has a slight temp. of 99.4. The pulse ox wasn't really all that good. Dr. Cox then came in and took a look at her. She then said what every new mother dreads to hear. She told me she was afraid of RSV! They did an RSV test, listened to her lungs, and redid the pulse ox test.
The test came back as negative-for now! YEA! Her oxygen saturation was better and she is still eating well. But Dr. Cox said she thinks there is a 50/50 chance that she will have to see us again this weekend. I am to keep a close eye on her and if she spikes a higher fever, her eating habits change or her breathing becomes any more labored I have to call the Dr.
My poor little baby! When she coughs it then makes her cry, and she has this soft sad little "I don't feel well" cry. It's breaking my heart. She is so cuddly. I feed her and hold her, that's been the extent of our day. Right now as I type this she is sleeping on my chest! I hope this passes quickly!

*er
This is a conversation that Brice and I have quite often. It goes something like this....
Me: "Honey, could you be nice?"
Brice: "I am nice!"
Me: "Could you be nicer then?"
This is how the conversation when tonight:
Brice says something rude or on the mean side
Me: "honey, could you be nice...er?" --the "er" was said as he begins his objection.
Brice: "what do you mean, I am nicer?"
Me: "where was 'er' about what you just said?"
Brice: " what do you mean 'er'?"
Me: "where was the 'er', the 'nicer' in what you just said?"
Brice: "well..."
next comment made....(something like "what is this idiot doing?"
Brice: "rrrrr what is this idiot doing? there was your 'er'!!!"
Count on my husband! It did make me laugh for several blocks however!!! Men...what are you going to do with them? Love them I guess! I love you babe, with or without the "er"!!
Brice and I wen to go see "Bodyworld" tonight. We have been wanting to go to this exhibit for quite some time. Well we finally got it together and decided to go tonight before it ends this weekend. It is open 24 hours a day for this last weekend. We got our tickets, we decided that we would go at 11:30pm. They told me when I bought the tickets to be there an hour before to stand in line. We got there shortly after 10:30 to find that they weren't even lining up the 11:00 showing yet. It was a 3 hour wait in line, and then a 1 1/2-2 hour walk through the exhibit! We had Madison, and the fact that neither of us wanted to give up 5-6 hours of our lives for this exhibit. We went and talked to a manager and AMAZINGLY they gave us our money back. I would have like to have seen it, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I didn't want to try and hold Madi that long, plus try and keep her entertained. Another time!!

*2009
WOW!!! I still remember the Y2K scare. Can it really be 2009! I got to spend the whole day with my baby and my honey. What a great way to start the New Year. Brice and I are definitely OLD... we didn't do any real "ringing" in of the new year. In fact Brice feel asleep before 10, he woke back up before midnight, but there was no partying it out on the town. What can I say, our partying days are over! Now we are just adjusting to life with a cute little baby.
Tonight we went and saw "Marley & Me". Such a cute movie! We laughed so hard, and of course we cried. Even Brice shed a tear or two! I would definitely recommend this movie. Brice and I read the book and loved it. The movie follows quite well. We were so excited when we heard they were making it into a movie. We have been trying to see it since the day after Christmas. We finally got to it today!
It made me very sad at the end! It made me think of how hard it will be when my Sadie passes away. It will be so hard for me! It has been really hard on Sadie having this new little baby to share me with. She is such a great dog and so loving toward Madi. Whenever Madison cries Sadie goes and gets a toy and brings it to her trying to make her happy. It really is sweet! Last January when Sadie was about to go in for surgery... I had to make an impression of her paw just in case she didn't come out of it! Anyway... no matter when the time comes that my Sadie goes to Heaven...it will be such a hard time for me! and Brice, and by then I'm sure Madison will be totally in love with her too!
ANYWAY.... Happy New Year. Here's to hoping that 2009 is a great year for all. It looks this could be an interesting year for us! I will try to keep you all up to date (within reason) with our adventures!!! keep reading folks!
